Moving Day

During the last week, I started an affair with Mr. WordPress, and have decided to leave Mr. Blogger.  It's not that Mr. Blogger hasn't fulfilled my needs, but after spending time with Mr. Wordpress, I've realized that not only are my needs met, but also my wants.  How could I refuse such a wonderful thing?

Please update your bookmarks, or however you keep track of me, because I have a new home.

Miss Me?

Where do I begin?  I know that many of you have been wondering that since the middle of November.  I can't believe it's been that long since I blogged.  I kept meaning to, but it seems like "life" just kept getting in the way.  I have been dealing with "stuff" (how's that for vague) and my blogging & emailing seemed to be the thing that suffered because of it.

I know I should have done a quick post to let you know I was going to be absent for awhile, but to be honest, I really didn't think it was going to go on for this long.  Here's a quick recap of the highlights of my life:
  • Weight Loss:  To date, I have lost 15 pounds in 2 months.  I can't tell you how thrilled I am to see this weight gone, and I'm almost halfway since I only have 21 more pounds to go.  Yes, NutriSystem works .... even around the holidays!  (Then again, I only allowed myself very few "cheats")
  • Fibromyalgia:  The medication I started 2 months ago is definitely working and all of my symptoms have improved by 50% or more.  I still have some "bad" days, but they aren't more than twice a week and it used to be four or five times a week, so I'm thrilled.  I now feel like I'm in control, instead of the fibro.
  • Knitting:  I have been knitting quite a bit, and I definitely got a lot of knitting complete while driving from Southern California to Southern Idaho for "vacation" the week before Christmas.  At one point, I was up to my elbows in scarves, hats, and gloves, but since all these items have been gifted now, I've realized that I missed out on photo documenting some of these items. I will try to get photos of the items I'm missing and post a holiday knitting recap as soon as possible.  By the way, all of the knitting on the road was accomplished in our new 2008 GMC Envoy.
This is what my husband wanted for Christmas, and since our mechanic stated my husbands car was only going to last another 3 months or so before we'd have to start replacing the major items, I reworked our budget so we could afford it.  The evening we drove it home from the dealer, my husband had the same smile on his face that I last saw 4 years ago ..... when we got married.  I'm still not sure what to think about that.

  • Family:  As I stated, we recently spent some time in Idaho to visit my parents, siblings and their families.  The main point of the visit was to get a photo of all of us together which is only 20 people, but logistically, it's still tricky to coordinate with every ones schedules.  The photos went pretty well, but a situation presented itself that evening that really messed up the rest of the trip.  I don't want to get into the details here, but I will say that the thought of what happened still brings a pang of hurt to my heart.  As a side note and personal recommendation, when you are hurt, upset, or mad, please take a moment and think before you open your mouth.  Sometimes words said can be very hurtful and it can time a very long time to heal the wounds the words left behind.  Enough said.  It's difficult to admit, but I was never so happy to leave and come home.
We spent Christmas Eve & Day with DH, my step-daughter, son-in-law, grandsons, step-daughters mom, and her husband.  We made some wonderful Christmas memories and although that would've been enough, I was still thrilled when I received this:
Image
It's a brand spankin' new MacBook Pro.  "Yes Virginia, there really is a Santa Claus".  Now I can blog and email and everything else from anywhere.  This hopefully means that you'll be seeing a lot more of me.  I'm still getting used to my new "toy", so bear with me if I don't get to all of your blogs this week.

I also received quite a few other wonderful items for Christmas, but I bet you'll be most interested in this one:
Vogue Knitting The Ultimate Sock Book: History*Technique*Design (Vogue Knitting)
When I was visiting family for a week, each day I looked forward to stopping in at the Barnes and Noble bookstore since it had wonderful gift ideas, and it was the only place I could find decent coffee since my family doesn't drink it.  I flipped through this book several times and hinted to my husband that I would like it.  He shared that information with one of my sisters who ended up gifting it to me.  Yeah!

I guess that's enough of an update for now.  Since I haven't been at your blogs for over a month, I hope your holidays have been wonderful and I'd like to wish each of you a happy and prosperous New Year.  For now, I best be getting around to each of your blogs and catching up on your lives.

What I did last week

I thought I'd share a bit of my baby sisters visit to California. I was so thrilled that she was able to bring her family here to visit, although I definitely didn't get to spend as much time with them as I would have liked. Thankfully I'll be seeing them again in December when I fly into Salt Lake City, UT for the holidays.

My 8yr old niece Julia had been to Disneyland before, but this was Sydni's first time and since she just turned 3 a few days ago, it was the perfect age for her to visit. My sister, her husband and the 2 girls were at Disneyland Monday all day, but DH & I joined them on Tuesday afternoon for a half day at Disneyland, California Adventure, and then dinner at Goofy's Kitchen.

Did you know that candy corn grows on palm trees?

I decided to rest & relax on Wednesday in preparation for my day back at Disneyland on Thursday, but the fibromyalgia reared its ugly head, so unfortunately Thursday I spent the day at home. It was extremely disappointing for me since I'd promised Julia that I'd ride her favorite rides that day, but unfortunately I had no choice.

Thankfully though on Friday afternoon I was feeling well enough to go have lunch at Ruby's Diner on the Balboa Pier at Newport Beach and then I got to watch the girls play on the beach and in the ocean. Everyone got much wetter than they thought they would, but the weather was perfect and everyone had a great time.

A beautiful day at the beach

Sydni thinks the water is too cold

Oh No! The water is coming to get you!

Watch out Julia, it's a big wave!

They all left for home on Saturday afternoon, which was obviously just in time since now so much of southern California is on fire. Luckily we live in an area that isn't affected by the fires nor will be, but when I step outside it smells like campfires burning and the air is dry and the horrendous Santa Ana winds are very hot. My heart really goes out to the evacuees and and all public safety workers battling the fires. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

By the way, the IK winter preview is up. What do you think?

Move along, no knitting here

I'm back from my vacation (and have been for awhile), but I'm so far behind on things that you'll have to bear with me while I attempt to get caught up in blog world.

It was wonderful to get away with DH for our anniversary and he spoiled me with a new travel bag the day we departed, a new set of jewelry that I'd been eyeing in the Brighton catalog, and a beautiful white & blue diamond necklace I spied while on our cruise. Believe me, the photo does not do this necklace justice. (I'm having a bad photo mojo day). I'd never seen or heard of blue diamonds before, but when I saw them I was completely captivated. It's odd too because blue isn't even one of my favorite colors, but then again, maybe the sparkle hit my eye, blinded me and knocked the sense out of me. It also is more likely that it was all the wine I was drinking.

We didn't get any photos at our first stop in San Diego, but that's probably because the only thing that we did of any interest was shop for a new dress for me. Even though we cruise every year, and even though I have semi-formal attire hanging in my closet, none of it fits. Ever since my health problems started this spring, I stopped exercising due to the pain, but kept on eating the same amount of food. Unfortunately, this left me with quite a few extra pounds and a very tight-fitting wardrobe. Luckily we were able to find a dress that fits AND it can be easily altered once I start to lose the weight.

Catalina Island was absolutely beautiful and the perfect weather day, but it was also one of my "bad" days, so we didn't get to do much. The scenery was beautiful however, and we did get to walk the main strip that makes up the downtown area, but with many many rests in between. Even thought I wasn't able to do much, it just wonderful to spend the day with DH taking in the beauty and unique quaint town of Catalina.

The last stop on our itinerary was Ensenada, Mexico. I've been to Ensenada once before and didn't care for it in the least, but since DH had never been there, I decided to grin and bear it through another trip to La Bufadora (the blowhole) and the open air shopping market. Here's what I thought of the experience:

Even though it was just a 5 day cruise, it seems that it was the perfect length for me until my health improves a bit more. I didn't manage to knit very much since I chose napping over knitting, so I've been a knitting fiend the last few days. I'll save my knitting updates for next time, but needless to say... I have too many projects on the needles and sharing all my WIP's will definitely take an entire post.

Have a great weekend!

Cruisin' on a "Monday" afternoon

Here's my quickie post to let you all know that I'm going to be missing for about a week. Hubby and I are leaving on Monday for a "mini" cruise to celebrate our 4th anniversary. It's nothing exotic at all, especially if you're living in Southern California, but for the curious we're sailing out of Los Angeles Harbor and will be stopping in San Diego, Catalina Island and Ensenada, MX.

In Stash Enhancement news (because I seem to have that quite frequently lately) I received a 33 skeins of Valley Yarns Colrain from Webs to knit two sweaters.

I'll be knitting DH the EZ Seamless Hybrid in Majestic Blue with Steel Gray trim on the inside cuffs.

For myself I'll be knitting the Radiance Cabled Jacket (Ravelry pattern link) in Chestnut. I really want to start on mine first, but since I'm almost finished with the Tangled Yoke Sweater, I should probably treat him to something next. Then again ... maybe I could knit them at the same time?

Hubby and I went over to our local bookstore Thursday night to pick up a book a friend recommended (Fibromyalgia for Dummies) , but while I was there, I ran across a 50% off table of craft books. I got lucky enough to pick up the Vogue Knitting Stitchionary Volume 1 and Volume 2 and have found some design inspiration for a scarf.

I've test swatched it in a few worsted weight yarns, and so far it works well for solid and multi-colored yarns. Since I'll be knitting it on my mini-vacation, hopefully I'll have some cruisin' photos, knitting photos, and a scarf pattern for you all when I return.

And one last thing before I forget, you MUST go look at Laura's stunning South Seas Stole she designed. I can't wrap my head around all the work that must have gone into the design of this, but it is definitely something I'm thrilled to be test-knitting, so watch out for more lace work here soon.

Have a great week!

I know this is for something...

Have you ever purchased an assortment of yarn online, and you had definite projects in mind when you placed the order, but when the yarn arrives you wonder what in the world the yarn was for?

When I saw the Knit Picks box on my doorstep, I was so thrilled because I knew my new Options Harmony Wood needles were inside, but as I tore through the box with all the different skeins of yarn, there was only one set of Harmony needles. One set? Why didn't I order more? I took them out of the package and stroked the beautiful hardwood and immediately decided that I must order more.

I was surprised and thrilled to see the two 24" Knit Picks nickel-plated circular needles in size 1 (2.25mm). I have been wanting and waiting for these for what has seemed like forever (actually since they released them), but they always seem to be sold out. Since they were finally in stock, I decided I must place an order, so actually this impulse yarn purchase is the fault of those tiny needles!

Next I saw the Wool of the Andes in Onyx Heather and remembered that these four skeins would hopefully combine perfectly with other yarn I had in my stash to make some Fiber Trends Felted Clogs. After all, cold weather is coming and some felted clogs will be ideal. By the way, did you see the info on All Buttoned Up about how to make the bottom of these not only non-slip but also waterproof? All you need is a trip to the hardware store!

Next, I sorted through the remaining yarn. Here's some Wool of the Andes in Camel Heather and Chestnut. I'm sure I bought a skein of each to check the colors and swatch for something. Maybe the EZ's Seamless Hybrid sweater? Didn't I just place an order with WEBS for some Colrain yarn for the same sweater? Oh yes I did. This makes absolutely no sense since I've only seen DH in a sweater ONCE in the last 5 years we've been together and he's never worn the sweater I made him last year for Christmas. I must be delirious.

Next up, Swish DK in Nutmeg and Cinnamon. This is for what? Again, I'm sure it was to check the colors and swatch for something, and yet, I have no clue. Honestly... no ... stinkin'... clue.

Finally (thank goodness), 4 skeins of CotLin in Linen. Four skeins? I thought I ordered one just to try out. What will I do with 4 skeins? Did I have a project in mind?

Am I the only one this has happened to?

On the health front: I saw the specialist (rheumatologist) yesterday and unfortunately he confirmed my fibromyalgia diagnosis. It's very frustrating being diagnosed with something that has no cure, but it's not life-threatening, so for that I'm thrilled. Right now I'm trying to process the treatment options he gave me and make a decision regarding what will work best for me without causing more harm to my body. I must admit that after 30 days on my vitamins, my overall health has seemed much better, although my pain symptoms have not really improved. Then again, it has only been 30 days, so I'm still hopeful.

Camera? What Camera?

I'm obviously behind in writing about the class I took on Sunday from Cookie, but believe me, it's in process and I'm trying to write a decent enough review, that it's worth your time to read it. Bear with me ... it's coming.

First of all, thank you for being such a wonderful group of friends. I swear I have the best group of blogger friends in the entire world and I'm so thankful for each & every one of you for leaving me comments of support while I wait, and wait and wait on doctors to diagnose me correctly.

Exactly two months ago, I saw the first doctor about all my health problems, but after no diagnosis from him, and an incorrect diagnosis from the 2nd doctor, I finally have a diagnosis. This time I saw a WOMAN. Does this have something to do it? I'll let you be the judge of that.

I have the Epstein-Barr Virus because it could be chronic, but even if I get better now, if it returned again, it could signal a chronic condition as well, so to just be aware. Oh believe me, I'm definitely more aware now. Thankfully I don't have hypothyroidism (my (EBV), and if you know anything about mononucleosis, then you'll understand a bit of what I've been experiencing for awhile. She said my test results showed I've had it for about 4 months and that there's no treatment for it other than time. She told me that if my symptoms don't improve in another 2 months, then I need to see a rheumatologistTSH levels dropped from 3.68 to a normal 1.72) and she's not convinced I have fibromyalgia, but since I have been feeling better over the last week she presumes in the next 30 days I'll feel good enough to resume most normal activities. Of course had I known the diagnosis 2 months ago, it wouldn't have changed how I felt. Then again, knowing probably would've helped with the stress of it all.

Enough about my health, on to the good stuff!!

Yesterday my chronological age ticked forward another year. Since DH gave me what I wanted most for my birthday on Sunday (the sock classes from Cookie), he surprised me with a much needed and wanted pair of Bose ear-bud headphones for my iPod.

I was also treated to an absolutely perfect dinner at the Orange Hill Restaurant. If you click on the link it will show you the absolutely amazing views we saw last night, as well as their menus (I had Filet Oscar), but since I was carrying my evening bag, I failed to slip my small digital camera in there. No photos ... bad blogger! I learned my lesson though. I've placed a note in the container where I store my evening bags to remind myself to "take the digital camera".

I've been knitting here and there, but mainly I've been shopping. So far, all I've received are the beautiful skeins of ArtYarns Supermerino from Yarn4Socks.com, and the yarn is even prettier in person. Although I'm not sure what projects the yarn is destined for, right now I'm just happy with it sitting next to my computer.

Must find my mojo

Has anyone seen my blogging mojo? Somehow I've lost it and I can't seem to find it anywhere. I used to absolutely love sitting at the computer multiple times a day for hours reading everyone's knitting adventures, but for the last month (or so) ... I've barely sat at the computer at all. I'm sure I even owe many of you an email (or two, or three or maybe even four) with a "thank you" for all the compliments on my last pair of socks and the "get well" wishes, but all I can offer at this time is my deepest apology. It does mean a lot to get comments from you even if I've failed recently to respond. Please accept my humble apology and know that I'm going to sincerely try to do better at that.

The only thing that really explains my lack of activity in blog-land, is because I honestly just haven't felt well enough to sit at the computer for any length of time. I've been having my fair share of the run around with doctors and I'm fed up to my eyeballs with the whole thing. If you want to know what's going on, read the next paragraph, but if not, definitely skip it.

The last doctor told me that I probably do have hypothyroidism, but that he wanted to treat my fibromyalgia first. What? Excuse me? Fibro-what? Where did this diagnosis come from? He pretty much refused me the necessary thyroid medication and instead gave me some other drugs instead for the fibromyalgia. So where does that leave me? Well, I have a bunch of free meds I will never take for a condition I'm not sure I have, and still nothing to treat what I think the real problem is. I contacted my insurance company and although it's going to cost me some money, I've opted to refer myself to a endocrinologist. Thankfully I have an appointment Thursday morningand if I can't get the help I need there I'm throwing myself off the roof of my house. No need to worry though.. I have a single story home, so it's hardly even worth the climb to the top.

In knitting news, there's actually not been a lot of knitting in the last few weeks. Currently, I'm finishing up a pair of socks that I've been working on for weeks and weeks. I also finally figured out the crochet edge on my shawl that has been sitting unfinished for approximately a month. When I figured out how simple the edging was I was so mad at myself for not attempting it sooner. I think committing to not starting any new shawls until that one was finished was all the motivation I needed and now that shawl is finally blocking.

I've also just completed blocking the swatch for the Mystery Stole 3 KAL. I'm so glad MS3 came along and that I joined since this project actually has me excited to knit again. For the last 2 weeks, I haven't hardly even looked at my needles, let alone knit with them. Now that my swatch is complete, I'm anxiously awaiting the first clue for MS3, especially since I'm knitting with the Lane Borgosesia Cashwool yarn I picked up at the Loopy Ewe. It wasn't in the budget, but I honestly have been wanting a black shawl for myself and since there was no black laceweight in my stash, I HAD to shop!

By the way, the other photo is just a few more skeins of the Panda Cotton yarn in ivory. I didn't want the Cashwool to ship all by itself from The Loopy Ewe, so the Panda Cotton joined it in the journey to my home. I think it will be perfect for another pair of summer socks.

My Perfect Monkey

Before I get to the good stuff, I must apologize for being absent for so long. I can't believe it's been two weeks of no blogging, emailing or anything. Too much has been going on here for the last 2 weeks, and unfortunately I chose my computer time as the thing that had to stop for a bit. So in case you're wondering what has had me MIA for the last 2 weeks, it's mainly been just too much going on coupled with severe exhaustion, since my health problems have not improved (see note at the bottom of this post). I do promise to catch up on all my emails and blog reading by this weekend, so please be patient with me. I've missed so much so this will be fun to catch up on what you've all been up to for the last 2 weeks.

I have been doing a tiny bit of knitting in between all the things that have been going on, so first up, here's My Perfect Monkey Socks!

Pattern: Monkey by Cookie A.
Pattern Source: Knitty.com Winter 2006
Yarn: Koigu KPPPM, P43835
Needles: Knit Picks 2.5mm (2 - 24" circulars)

This is my 2nd pair of Monkeys but my first time knitting with the Koigu. Although I think my first pair of Monkeys flopped, I definitely LOVE this pair. Then again, how can you go wrong when you pair up the perfect pattern, yarn and needles?

Of course I knit these from the toe-up using Judy's Magic Cast-On and utilized instructions from past correspondence with Judy to do the toe and heel modifications to make the pattern work. Thank you! Without Judy's guidance in teaching me how to convert patterns, I'd still be stuck knitting everything from the cuff down. ...not that there's anything wrong with that.

If you've never knit with Koigu KPPPM, I most definitely recommend that you either get to your LYS or find some online and order it immediately. If I had any idea how utterly fabulous this yarn is, I would have bought more than 2 skeins. Sadly, I have no more Koigu in my stash, but it is at the top of my priority list when my wallet recovers from the purchase of DH's birthday gift.

Since I've received a few requests, I'm considering writing up my version of the Monkey pattern written toe-up. Of course I think I'll need to contact the designer first for her permission, so when that happens (or not), I'll post that information here.

A final note totally off topic. For those of you who have inquired, I finally have news regarding my health problems. There has been much drama surrounding everything and I blame it on switching to a HMO doctor, but suffice it to say, I do not have diabetes. YEAH! Big party at my house right now! What I DO have is a sub clinical hypothyroidism, which means my body is not producing enough of the thyroid hormone. My doctor has chose NOT to treat this condition with medication. Obviously ... he's an arsehole. If he had my symptoms (severe fatigue, muscle pain, weight gain, and messed up menstrual cycles), he'd be medicating himself in a heartbeat. What's especially frustrating is that the medication has NO side effects unless your dose is too high, and those side effects are actual very mild. Needless to say, I'm going to be picking up my medical records and finding a new doctor.

Week In Review (sort of)

I know I've only been posting about twice a week and I mean to post more frequently, but to be honest, my health has continued to decline. I'm only 37 for heaven's sake and it feels like my body is trying to do me in. I could bore you with my pathetic list of symptoms and the Dr's initial diagnosis, but nothings for sure yet, so I'm just attending the various clinics for tests and should have more info in 2 weeks. Don't worry, it doesn't appear to be anything serious (like cancer), but I just wanted to share a bit of this with you because until I'm feeling better, I may not be posting as much, and I may not be commenting on your blogs as much.

Since I'd forbid myself to cast-on for socks until Molly's sweater was complete, and since I've been spending some time at Dr's offices and labs, I've been working on these dish cloths from the Mason-Dixon ladies. I am trying to be a bit more conscious of the environment, so these will be replacing my kitchen sponges. I was really never worried about the sponge harboring bacteria since I only used it for a week and then tossed it, but then a light bulb went on. I've calculated that I've spent about $50 a year on sponges, and since I'm sure they aren't that great in the landfills, using these dishcloths should help in some small way. If you don't have the book but want the pattern, you can get it HERE!

Thanks to Dave, he posted something regarding those of you kind enough to leave comments on blog posts. Seems that quite a few of us have been frustrated that we aren't getting the email addresses of our commenter's. Everyone thought it was the fault of the new Blogger, but I had issues even with the old Blogger. He was notified by Lavendersheep that the new Blogger did NOT mess about with the ability to reply to comments but that the new Blogger DID mess about with your settings.

If your Blogger email address was public before, you've been reset to private. If you edit your profile and check the box that says show my email address, your email address will show up with the comment and restore reply-ability.

Did you see the latest edition of Yarnival? My friend Laura was the editor and she even included one of my blog posts. There are some pretty good articles in there, so make sure you check it out.

Speaking of Laura, yesterday I was able to spend a few hours with her sharing our new yarn acquisitions and completed knitting projects since we last met. You've got to take a look at her Conwy socks. I was tempted to steal them, but then my brain kicked back in and I remembered I could probably just knit my own pair. I also purchased this lace weight yarn from her. Neither of us are sure what it is, but it's almost silk-like and I can't wait to make a shawl from it. For lunch, we went to an amazing German deli (Mattern's) to pick up sandwiches and beer, and although there was quite a wait for it, it was well worth it. We took the food and drinks back to Laura's house and got to sit outside on her patio and enjoy the view, the food, and the company. It was perfect! And where are the photos? I forgot to take them .. BAD BLOGGER!

This weekend I hope to be casting on for my next pair of socks, since I finally finished the Matinee Coat for Molly. My next post will have all the details.

Before I forget ... a million thanks to Carole for sharing an invite with me to Ravelry. It's the perfect thing for me to organize my stash, projects, needles, and such. I also love that I've met some new "friends" through it. If you read my blog and you're in Ravelry, make sure you link me as a "friend" so I can see who you are. If you're not on Ravelry and you've signed up, don't panic, you will be part of it very soon!

Eight Random Things

I rarely participate in these, but since it was Laura who tagged me, I'm doing this for her.
First, the rules:
  1. Each player starts with 8 random facts/habits about themselves.
  2. People who are tagged write a blog post about their own 8 random things and post these rules.
  3. At the end of your post you need to tag 8 people and include their names.
  4. Don’t forget to leave them a comment and tell them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.

Here you go:

  1. I learned to shoot a bow and arrow nine years ago from a former Olympic team trainer. I spent approximately two hours doing this and haven't touched a bow and arrow since then.
  2. I hate finishing projects. I always feel a bit of sadness when a project is complete so towards the end of projects I slow down drastically.
  3. My idea of the perfect home would be a cottage on a lake in the Pacific Northwest.
  4. Fifteen years ago, I was within 3 credits of an associates degree in piano performance. If I were to return to college now, I'd become a nurse.
  5. My husbands first wife is one of my best friends.
  6. My husband loves to write "I Love (heart symbol) You" with the tip of his finger on my leg at random times during the week. My heart still skips a beat when he does this.
  7. I've worn the same watch for eight years that I purchased at Macy's in Denver Colorado when I was on a business trip and my watch broke. I still get compliments on it although I only paid around $70 for it.
  8. I used to have severe acne until I tried a medication called isotretinoin (Accutane). I haven't had acne for almost ten years now and although I still have a few slight acne scars, this medication was worth its weight in gold!
And now to tag people. I hereby tag: nobody. I'm going against the rules on this one, but if you do want to do this, please do, and let me know.

In personal news, my health has been hit or miss lately. I got lucky enough to be feeling pretty good this weekend, so we babysat the grandkids while their parents went to parties for their friends who are getting married. We went to McDonald's (which the kids call MickeyDonald's) to play in the playland tubes & slides .. oh and I think we may have had a hamburger too. The youngest one didn't want to go down the slide, so grandpa showed him how it was done. They both came down following him. I'm sure glad I had the camera.

Spring Sunday's

Just a reminder to leave a comment on my Blogiversary post to win free yarn. I'll be taking entries on that post until Monday, March 19th at noon (PST)

Do you ever wonder what people do on the weekends? I usually don't since most of you blog about it, but I rarely share my weekend events, so here's a peek into what I do every Sunday afternoon.

That's me on the far right hanging out with the family(DH is taking the photo) watching the grandkids play "itty bitty t-ball". It's so adorable watching 3-5 year olds running after their own ball after they hit it, sitting at the bases looking in the grass for bugs, or crying because they "never get the ball". DH & I are loving every minute of it. This is the first year both boys are playing together on the same team, but we found out that next year the oldest will be playing regular t-ball on Saturdays. At least now we know we'll be hanging out at the baseball field on both days of our weekend. So why am I wearing an "Angels" shirt you ask? Very good question, and here's the answer. I'm supporting the Grandkids team. Every year they are assigned to play on a team that is a mirror image of a MLB team, and this year we are the Angels. Last year we were the Dodgers, this year we're the Angels and maybe next year the Yankees?

Pregame Warmup
Mom says to keep hydrated! There's no crying in baseball
By the way, please go to Lara's blog and read this post. She needs help from knitters and I'm hoping that maybe a few of you who read my blog, will help her with a knitted item for a family in need.
